Indulge Your Passion On The Santa Ana del Monte Jumilla Golf Course Situated On The Fabulous Santa Ana del Monte Golf Resort......Two Professionally Designed Courses To Be Enjoyed By Experienced And New Players AlikeThe Santa Ana del Monte Jumilla Golf courses on the beautiful Santa Ana del Monte Jumilla Golf Resort in Jumilla, Murcia are situated in a valley completely surrounded by the mountains. These two totally different courses open up a whole range of possibilities if you are a golf lover: you can playfrom 9 to 36 holes, making each experience within a game unique. The courses bring together the experience and knowledge of two great professionals, Pepe Gancedo (course designer and development director) and John McShane (responsible for the shape of the course). Pepe Gancedo is six times Spanish Amateur Champion and seven times runner up. He is the winner of 30 International Championships and has been awarded the National Medal of Sports Merit amongst his many acolades. He is known as the "Picasso" of golf by Peter Dobereiner from the Observer, and has designed and constructed more than 16 top Golf Courses and has many more currently under construction. His courses are really unusual and special, due to his crafsman-like thinking when it comes to their design and they always receive a warm reception from golf lovers. Grancedo started designing golf courses when he was just in his 20's and started playing golf outside Spain - it was at this time that he realised how important course design was in the British Isles and it started to really interest him. He doesn't use computers to design his courses - just a pencil and a plan - and if he doesn't have a plan at hand then any paper nearby will do - he's even been known to draw his design on a tablecloth in a restaurant - paying the waiter for this and then taking it home with him! Both Gancedo and McShane have the necessary technical knowledge and know the rules of the game to ensure the shape of the Santa Ana golf courses are constructed to the highest possible standards. The courses will cover an area of 1,600,000 sq mts and have been designed with particular respect to their environmental impact. In terms of the play, size and style, whilst each will be very different from each other, they will also have many things in common such as the basic vegitation, which will consist of 7,000 olive trees. Native species of flaura and fauna will also be encouraged on the two courses, as well as throughout the resort. The shaping of the Santa Ana Golf del Monte Jumilla Golf course has been carried out very carefully and offers the opportunnity to play 9, 18, 27 or 36 holes. Because of the geographics of the land, the curves and shape of the course have to be very gentle and with sensible lines to be in keeping with the environment and to keep transformation of the land to the minimum and so that all players achieve the highest satisfaction and enjoyment of the game. "Hole shaping" is very important because it has a great impact on the aesthetics of the course (including the shape of the course) and for technical and maintenance reasons. For example, if the slope of the course isn't correct, rain-water drainage will be adversely affected - which would be disastrous! There are also three dry riverbeds which are going to come into play on many of the holes. Grancedo himself explains:" Each hole has its own charecteristics: its orientation, the prevailing wind direction, the depth or width of its bunkers, the inclination, the water hazards or the gullies (which existed long before the course was built) make each hole unique." But his main concern, he goes on to say "is to ensure that the players experience unique sensations that can only be enjoyed at the Santa Ana del Monte Golf Resort, regardlessof whether they choose toplay 9, 18, 27 or 36 holes." Whilst one course will be flatter, the other will be more rolling, which will make it very difficult to find a completely flat lie. That will force you to concentrate, regardless of your status. The championship tees are are going to be long so that if you're a professional playeryou're going to think that this is a really serious course. The club tees, on the otherhand, are going to be great fun if you're an amateur.
